Egg Freezing and IVF in the Czech Republic

Egg freezing and IVF in the Czech Republic are some of the primary reasons why the country's fertility rate has been increasing since 2020. Czechia is among the countries with the highest rates in Europe along with France and Romania. It also consistently makes it to the top of the list of countries using assisted reproductive technology (ART), especially with the help of state insurance coverage. The Czech Republic is one of the Top Three European fertility destinations for medical tourists. It is applauded for its IVF cycle rate per capita of 30,000 treatment cycles per year, the highest rate in all of Europe.

What Medical Travelers Should Know About Czech Republic

The Czech Republic currently ranks #15 in the global Medical Tourism Index. Medical travellers from most European countries are lucky not to need a visa to undergo medical services in the country. The cities that are most popular for healthcare services are Prague, Brno, and Plzen.

Tourists are most fascinated with the funicular on Petřín, making it the most visited attraction in the Czech Republic in 2022. Following it are the Prague Castle, Prague Zoo, and AquaPalace Praha in Čestlice. Opening most recently in 2022, the Sky Bridge 721 in the Pardubice area is building up popularity as the world's longest pedestrian suspension bridge.

The Czech diet is influenced by German, Hungarian, and Polish food. Czechs regularly eat dumplings, potatoes, meat, and rice with sauces and sauerkraut. You could sample some of the country's typical dishes: baked pork and cabbage (knedlo-vepřo-zelo); Czech pancakes (Lívance); and beef with cream sauce, cranberries, and bread dumplings (Svíčková s brusinkami).

This European society loves to go swimming and sunbathing in lakes and hiking and staying for the weekends at mountain cottages. Mushrooming is a fascinating hobby enjoyed by many Czechs. Known for their bohemian lifestyle, they are also pretty chill and are not into workaholicism like other developed countries. Remember to politely remove your shoes before entering someone's house! For your safety, avoid exchanging your money on the streets because there are many counterfeit money exchangers. Keep your eye out for pickpockets.

Almost everyone in the whole country uses public transportation. Even the rich do not relish driving on the traffic-laden roads in cities, especially in Prague and Brno. Take the metro, trams, and buses along with the locals.

The Czech Republic is one of the top countries that use ART

The Czech fertility rate has been increasing since 2020, ranking the country among the highest rates in Europe along with France and Romania. Consistently making it to the top of the list of countries using ART, it has maintained high ART birth rates according to data collected from 2005 to 2018. National acceptance of ART use in the country is largely due to the reimbursement costs covered by state insurance for IVF treatment. Additionally, the more couples postpone parenthood, social acceptance of IVF treatment grows.

Czech, a Slavonic language, is the official language while English, Slovak, Polish, German, and Russian are the most widely spoken foreign languages.

Benefits of Doing Fertility Treatments in the Czech Republic

There are major draws for having your fertility treatment done in Czech Republic IVF clinics. Their low costs are highly appreciated by patients. Strictly regulated fertility clinics require a license from the State Institute for Drug Control which inspects clinics every two years. This regulation translates to high healthcare standards. Most IVF clinics have English-speaking staff and some offer travel accommodations. The cycle rate per capita is 30,000 treatment cycles per year, the highest assisted reproduction cycle rate in all of Europe. These benefits have catapulted the Czech Republic consistently into the Top Three European fertility destinations for medical tourists.

Czech legislation for infertility treatment

The Czech law for infertility treatment in 1997 originally ruled reimbursement of costs for up to three cycles until a woman reaches the age of 39. In 2012, the age limit for human reproduction services was raised to 50 and the reimbursed cycles were raised to four. Today, the Czech Republic's national health plan completely covers all the costs of IVF treatment for Czech citizens. Furthermore, IVF cycles can be reimbursed until a woman reaches the age of 40 in 2022. However, a third of the costs for some fertility drugs and other treatments such as ICSI, assisted hatching, and FET are still shouldered by patients. Reproductive medicine treatments are also only available to heterosexual couples who live together.
